Senior Care Act Program

What is the Senior Care Act?

The Senior Care Act (SCA) Program is a state and locally funded program for Kansas senior citizens age 60 years and older.

To qualify for the program individuals must have limitations which restrict their ability to carry out Activities of Daily Living (ADL's) or Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADL's).

The SCA Program can help provide necessary in-home services to individuals which will enable them to remain independent and continue to live in their own home.

What services are available?

  • Non-Medical Attendant Care

Assistance with bathing, dressing, personal appearance, feeding and toileting.

  • Homemaker

Assistance with house cleaning, laundry, essential shopping, errands and meal preparation.

What will these services cost me?

The cost of Homemaker and Attendant Care services through the SCA Program is based on a sliding fee scale.  The customer will be billed from donation to 100% of the total cost of services based on the customer's monthly income and total liquid assets.  The remaining portion is paid with state and local funds.

Who is eligible for SCA services?

Any Kansas resident age 60 years or older that has physical or mental limitations which restrict the ability to perform ADL's or IADL's may be eligible for services.  Special emphasis is given to individuals over 75 years of age.
